The installation "Luftbrücke" examines the questionable hype surrounding
Berlin as an old/new capital and art metropolis. Germany's political caste
has moved back to its neoclassical stables. No cutting-edge artist's biography
should be without the entry: "Lives and works in...," followed by Berlin.
Despite the hype, however, both cash registers in Berlin and art patrons'
faces are looking disappointed.
In order to help Berlin out of this uncomfortable situation, Christian Blau
approaches this matter in his usual critical and ironic way and fuels
the artistic discourse. The "Luftbrücke Kompilation" presents an organized
effort from such hamburg based artists as Asmus Tietchens, "für diesen Abend"
featuring Katrin Bethge, eins23.tv and Heinz Strunk, to offer at least some
emotional help to Berlin.
The world premier of the dvd-work "Ert´s Lamento" from "Moischintzky and
Blaulinger" stood out as just one highlight of this exhibition.
Moischintzky and Blaulinger is a collaboration of
Moishe Moser and Christian Blau.
