Christian Blau 'installation, the lead ark'

... we know the ark from the old testament as a place of refuge before the sense
flood for humans and animals. it is a thick ship or rather a swimming box, which
represents thus even again a space, but, a space in motion. christian blau decides
in the representation of his ark however for the form of an old riverboat,
which offers a large feed surface with slim, dynamic bug and broad tail, on which
a lead container stores. blaus emphasis with the motive of an ark is appropriate thus on
the movement, for the journey, on that roams across the space. also the charge is one for
the journey: the container is an almost everlasting container and the messageinabottle
already stored externally. somewhere thrown into the space, none knows, where or when it
will arrive. by the coating lead, with its preserving abilities, it is prepared with their
information for a long journey.

lead, which ranks among the oldest metals of mankind history, was assigned to the planet
Saturn in the cosmologies and alchimistbooks in the middle ages. this pale-lighting
'change asterisk' needs 29.5 years, in order to orbit the sun and merges with the lead
into a symbol for tardiness, age, stability and turbidness. Also hope for the discovery
of unknown possibilities swings nevertheless in the back meditation on the tardiness,

Die Arche kennen wir aus dem Alten Testament als Zufluchtsort vor der Sinnflut
für Mensch und Tier. Sie ist ein dickbäuchiges Schiff oder vielmehr ein
schwimmender Kasten, der also selbst wieder einen Raum darstellt, aber,
einen Raum in Bewegung. Christian Blau entscheidet sich in der Darstellung
seiner Arche jedoch für die Form eines alten Flußschiffes, das mit schlankem,
dynamischen Bug und breitem Heck eine große Transportfläche bietet, auf der ein
Bleicontainer lagert. Blaus Schwerpunkt bei dem Archenmotiv liegt also auf der
Bewegung, der Reise, auf dem durchstreifen des Raums. Auch die Ladung ist eine
für die Reise: der Container ist ein fast unverwüstlicher Behälter und die
Flaschenpost schon ausgelagert. Irgendwo in den Raum geworfen, weiß keiner,
wo oder wann sie ankommen wird. Durch das umhüllende Blei, mit seinen
konservierenden Fähigkeiten, ist sie mit ihrer Information für eine lange Reise präpariert.

Blei, das zu den ältesten Metallen der Menschheitsgeschichte zählt, wurde in den
Kosmologien und Alchimistenbüchern bis ins Mittelalter dem Planeten Saturn zugeordnet.
Dieser blaßleuchtende 'Wandelstern'. der 29,5 Jahre braucht, um die Sonne zu umrunden,
ist mit dem Blei zu einem Symbol für Langsamkeit, Alter, Stabilität und Trübnis verschmolzen.
Dennoch schwingt in der Rückbesinnung auf die Langsamkeit, auch die Hoffnung auf die
Entdeckung unbekannter Möglichkeiten mit, denn sonst bräuchten wir keine Reise anzutreten.

Innenverhüllung der Schaufenster mit 500 Meter laufendem schwarzen Molltonstoff,
3 Ständer mit Aquarien, Wasser, Schneesand und schwimmender Flaschenpost (Multiple),
Bleiarche aus Manilarohr mit Bleikörper.

Aufgrund starker Proteste der Ladeninhaber konnte die Innenverhüllung leider nur 3 Tage
unverändert hängen bleiben. Realisierung der Bleiarche: Bellealliance, Plastische Gestaltung, Hamburg.
